A little bit about Polly…

Polly Douse enjoys working with individuals and couples as they navigate life’s unpredictable terrain. After residing in New Orleans, Louisiana, Polly returned to her birth state, Tennessee, in 2014. In December 2021, she completed her Marriage and Family Therapy/Counseling Master’s Degree from Trevecca Nazarene University. 

Polly rekindled her passion for working with college students from August 2020 through December 2021, as a Marriage and Family Therapist Intern at Trevecca Nazarene’s Counseling Center. Before that, she worked with college students in Sweden from 2005-2006 with Agape Sverige. In addition to founding Therco, a private practice for individuals and couples, Polly spent a few semesters as a contract clinician for Counseling and Psychological Services at Sewanee: The University of the South.

When she isn’t working with individuals or couples, Polly enjoys sipping on delicious hand-crafted cappuccinos, walking the family Schnoodle, and spending endless hours laughing with her husband and three children. Before her career in mental health, Polly earned her Bachelor of Arts in English from Sewanee: the University of the South with a minor in History. Polly enjoys traveling, reading suspenseful fiction novels, baking, yoga, and being outside. She has a cornucopia of career experience in writing, communications, marketing, fashion, and editing.

MEMBERSHIPS
Polly is a member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, a member of the American Counseling Association, and a sustainer with the Junior League of Nashville.

CERTIFICATIONS AND TRAINING
Polly earned the emotionally focused individual therapy level one certificate from Dr. Sue Johnson and Dr. Leanne Campbell with ICEEFT, International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy. Polly is also a certified facilitator with Prepare/Enrich for couples.
